COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG
We recommend you see Williamsburg's "The Story of a Patriot", a 35-minute film that brings the American Revolution to life. It's shown at the Visitors Center and at the Williamsburg KOA pavilion daily. The official Guide Book to Colonial Williamsburg will help you plan your visit to Virginia's Colonial Capital. It's available at the KOA store. The exhibition buildings, colonial homes, craft shops and other special sites are open according to the schedule in the "Visitor's Companion", which is included with the purchase of an admission ticket.

Griffon.

Science-fiction fantasy- comes to life as Aquazoid, a 1950s mutant movie monster, unleashes his destructive power. JAMESTOWN SETTLEMENT & ISLAND
Relive the adventure of 1607 when 104 Englishmen dropped anchor and began to build America's first permanent English colony in Jamestown, Virginia. Explore life at the dawn of the 17th century inside the palisade of a re-created colonial fort, discover the world of Pocahontas in the Powhatan Indian village, and experience the four-month passage to the New World on board re-creations of the three ships that brought the settlers to Virginia. Extensive indoor galleries tell the compelling stories of Jamestown, from its beginnings in England through its often turbulent first century, and of Virginia's Powhatan Indians.

YORKTOWN BATTLEFIELDS & VICTORY CENTER
The sights and sounds of the Revolutionary War surround you as costumed interpreters demonstrate 18th-century medical techniques, camp cooking, musket drills and wartime punishments. See where the troops lived: during military campaigns, soldiers camped in tents; but in winter, they built log cabins as shelter from severe weather.

PRESIDENTS PARK & THE AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Presidents Park is an outdoor museum of the United States Presidents committed to advancing interest in the presidency, the democratic process, and civic participation among youths and adults alike. At Presidents Park you can learn interesting facts about each president, his ideas, his wife and family and his contributions to the growth and development of the United States.

New exhibits from The American Presidential Experience include a fuselage of an Air Force One, Limousine, First Ladies' Gowns and replica of the Oval Office.

COLLEGE OF WILLIAM & MARY
At the end of Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg stands a trio of graceful Georgian buildings that symbolize the origin of higher education in America. The colonial campus of the College of William and Mary, still intact after 300 years of wars, fires, and changing fortunes, the second oldest institution of higher education in the nation.

THE WILLIAMSBURG WINERY
The 18th-century styled Winery buildings, 2 miles from the Historic Area, are surrounded by over 50 acres of vineyards. Professionally guided 30-45 minute tours through the Winery, museum and underground barrel cellars cover the wine making process, from viticulture, harvesting and crushing, through fermentation, aging and bottling as well as the history of the Winery. Visitors enjoy a tasting of seven wines after the tour and receive an etched tasting glass. The unique tasting room features exclusive wine accessories, gourmet gifts and selected Virginia and imported wines. Visitors are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Winery's Gabriel Archer Tavern.

RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT® MUSEUM
Robert Ripley visited 198 countries during his career and travelled a distance of 19 complete trips around the world. An artist, reporter, explorer and collector, Ripley was as unusual as the artifacts he gathered. See things in this museum that you can't see anywhere else, everything is real in over 300 exhibits. Also visit the Ripley's 4D Theater where you experience the 3D movies with 4D effects. Perfect for the whole family to learn and enjoy. Located on Richmond Road in Williamsburg.

BERKELEY PLANTATION
Berkeley is Virginia's most historic plantation. On December 4, 1619, early settlers from England came ashore at Berkeley Plantation and observed the first official Thanksgiving in America.See the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and President William Henry Harrison, "Old Tippecanoe." "Taps" was composed at Berkeley when General McClellan headquartered 100,000 Union troops in 1862. We invite you to experience Berkeley's famous hospitality, as did the first 10 presidents. An architectural gem, the 1726 Georgian mansion is furnished with rare period antiques. Berkeley's grounds are its crowning jewel. Five terraces of restored boxwood and flower gardens offer breathtaking vistas of the James River.
SHIRLEY PLANTATION
A visit to Shirley Plantation is a step back into American history. Virginia's oldest plantation, Shirley was settled in 1613. Knowledgeable interpreters in the main house offer a unique look at the Hill-Carter family, who have lived at Shirley continuously for nearly four centuries, including members of the current 10th and 11th generations. The main house, begun in 1723, reflects Queen Anne architecture and inside, features the famous square three-story flying stairway, unique to North America. Antique family portraits, silver, furniture and finely carved 18th-century paneling and moldings also remain. Robert E. Lee's mother, Ann Hill Carter, was born, raised and married here. Visitors can explore seven original early 18th-century brick outbuildings, four of which form a rare Queen Anne Forecourt. A lovely James River setting, grounds and gardens, working farm and specialty gift shop complete a unique experience. Special events are held throughout the year.

THE MARINER'S MUSEUM
Dare to follow in the wake of the heroes of the great Age of Exploration. Glimpse priceless artifacts from the wreck of the USS Monitor, the world's most famous iron clad ship. Imagine the frozen horror of the night the great Titanic sank. Such wonders await you at The Mariner's Museum, one of the largest and finest maritime museums in the world.

YORKTOWN WATERFRONT/BOARDWALK
In Yorktown, picturesque streets offer quaint art galleries, antique and specialty shops. Visit the museums with hands-on programs and exhibits. Stroll along the scenic riverwalk and relax on the sandy beach at river’s edge. Free trolley rides around town are available. To add to the charm, enjoy a sail on the York River and don’t miss the candlelight walking tour - complete with tales of ghosts.

The Schooner Alliance lets you step back into history. Board the 105' Tall Ship for a 2 hour morning or afternoon sail (May-October). Sunset sails, private charters and overnight charters are also available.

VIRGINIA LIVING MUSEUM
The museum offers a native wildlife park, natural science museum, live animal programs, aquaria, native botanical gardens, aviaries, fossils, planetarium theater and observatory – all in one wooded lakeside setting. Kids will especially enjoy the touch tank with its sea stars and horseshoe crabs. Learn the secrets of how plants and animals survive in the wild. The outdoor nature trail will bring you face to face with raccoon, beaver, river otter, bobcat, fox, door and more than 40 species of birds.

THE NATIONAL MARITIME CENTER
Located on the Norfolk waterfront, this unique, thriving campus of visitor attractions explores the economic, naval and natural power of the sea. The Center consists of Nauticus, the Battleship Wisconsin, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, NOAA@Nauticus and Cruise Norfolk.

Nauticus is a spectacular maritime-themed science center featuring hands-on exhibits, interactive theaters, aquaria, digital high-definition films, and an extensive variety of educational programs. A gift shop and restaurant complement the experience.

KINGS DOMINION
Kings Dominion is a 400-acre theme park that’s home to more than 200 rides, shows and attractions. The park features one of the largest coaster collections on the East Coast, including the world’s first air-launched coaster, HyperSonic XLC, two children’s areas and WaterWorks, a 19-acre water park playground that’s included with park admission. Approximately 1 1/2 hour drive north from the KOA campgrounds.

RICHMOND CIVIL WAR NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK
Richmond's story is not just the tale of one large Civil War battle, nor even one important campaign. Instead, the park's resources include a naval battle, a key industrial complex, the Confederacy's largest hospital, dozens of miles of elaborate original fortifications, and the evocative spots where determined soldiers stood paces apart and fought with rifles, reaping a staggering human cost.

VIRGINIA BEACH AQUARIUM & MARINE SCIENCE CENTER
Virginia's largest aquarium and marine science facility. The Atlantic Ocean Pavilion host the 300,000-gallon Norfolk Canyon Aquarium including sandtiger, nurse and brown sharks, as well as stingrays. At The Owls Creek Marsh Pavilion exhibits include dozens of aquariums and terrariums featuring river otters, seahorses, fiddler crabs and a macro-marsh where animals and plants are magnified ten times their normal size. Nature Trail, daily programs, boat trips, Osprey Café, Gift Shop and IMAX movies - a great day out for family entertainment.
